Biography

Susan studied acupuncture at the California Acupuncture College and graduated in 1987.  In 1988, she went to China and worked in a hospital in Shen Zeng.  The International Acupuncture Society in Hong Kong sponsored our program and these English-speaking teachers took us into Red China as our interpreters.  Susan received an Oriental Medicine Degree while she was in the Orient.

Susan has been doing acupuncture for 21 years.  Fifteen years in San Diego and 2008 will be her 6th year in Berkley Michigan.  Her style of practice is very traditional Chinese.  In China, needles are left in until there is an energetic shift in the body, or according to how the patient responds or according to their condition.  Treatments are not based on a time clock.  Here first Chinese teacher that took her under his wing practiced this style and she was quite impresses with her teachers results.  So today, this is how Susan practices.  An appointment is usually two hours, which is set aside in case the time is needed.  Some patients energy shifts quickly and they do not need the needles in that long.  Others need them in longer.  Each treatment is very individual where the person is treated not the condition.

Over the years my favorite type of patients are professional athletes, children infertility and those individuals who are willing to work on them selves.

In my 21 years of practice, I have seen more infertility than ever due to many causes.  Chinese medicine can really assist in the fertility process when otherwise there has been difficulty.  Over my years of practice, I have many women who were told they would not have children, have them now due to Chinese medicine.  Acupuncture itself is very powerful but when combined with western intervention (i.e.…  IUF) then the results are even more consistent.
